A hoppin' event
More than 4,000 people turned out at the Clinton County Economic Partnership EXPO Wednesday at Lock Haven University Student Recreation Center. A total of 93 businesses and organizations took part in the annual event now in its 23rd year.

LOCK HAVEN — Sunny skies, warm weather and smiling faces greeted more than 4,000 guests to the 2008 Clinton County Economic Partnership EXPO Wednesday. “Call it a homecoming,” said EXPO Chairman Wade Keiffer at the opening ceremonies.
Keiffer said it was a homecoming for not only the exhibitors who have come for the past 23 years, but also for those who make the EXPO so successful.
“Without the support of Lock Haven University we would not have a place to hold this event,” Keiffer said.

Summer reading

I have been majorly neglecting this blog for a long time now, and I know I need to make up for that, but I have been so busy studying that I haven't gotten a chance to read many good books. But I've got a great list in the works, and I hope you do too. Summer is the perfect time to catch up on all of the reading you neglected during the year. I have a stack of books almost as tall as I am waiting to be read, and I look forward to devouring it and savouring each tasty morsel. I am one of those people who buys books and then starts to read one and then buys more books while still reading the first book, and then by the time I move onto the 2nd book I've got 30 books I need to read. The top 5 list of books I absolutely need to finally read this summer is as follows: Middlemarch by George Eliot. I have been planning to read this for years and never gotten around to it, but I bought it, which is a step. The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

Summer Time

Forgive me for my lack of writing the past two weeks. It was the end of the semester, schedules got crazy, and packing for summer became a chore. With summer break now here, I will not be living with my friends in our apartment, I am at home in Scranton. What does that mean? That means that I will try to keep up with the theme of college life (also campus life) but I may stray from it a bit at times.

A Legacy

When time becomes short, humans find the time to pass things to the next generation. Grandmothers leave money to their grandchildren while father's leave tools to their children, both hoping that the meager gift they give will change the future of the recipient. This idea is not only confined to death. Neighbors give partings gifts of furniture, former lovers give one last gift in hopes of repairing what was lost, an students pass books to the next generation of the potentially educated. The idea that objects and knowledge should be passed on is not uncommon, but the event that causes a legacy to be passed on can be rather strange. I have been a student of Lock Haven University for five years. In those five years, I have gained a great deal of knowledge, received the gift of inspiration, garnered a collection of books, and found insight into my life.

A Charmed Hour and a Haunted Song: Stevie Nicks in Concert

Rock-Goddess Stevie Nicks enthralled a nearly sold-out crowd in Reading last week, on a short tour to promote an up-coming Soundstage DVD-CD set. Nicks brought the crowd on their feet upon entering from center stage to sing her synthesizer-driven smash “Stand Back.” She graced the stage in her signature black chiffon dress, black suede boots, and silky long blonde hair. Her powerful presence on stage, coupled with her ten-piece band, quickly brought the energy level high throughout the arena. Nicks topped off her elation by kicking one suede boot high in the air, which was welcomed with deafening applause from her fans.
