Spaghetti and meatballs
JERSEY SHORE – St. John Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., offers a spaghetti and homemade meatballs dinner Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. with take-outs also available. The dinner includes salad and dessert and is sponsored by St. John/Bethany’s Believers Relay for Life Team.
Homemade ice cream
PINE CREEK – Phelps Chapel, off the Route 220 Pine Creek exit, has slated an Ice Cream Festival for Saturday, to feature homemade ice cream and other food, starting at 11 a.m. The food also includes hamburg barbecue, hot dogs, potato salad and baked beans.
MILL HALL – The Mill Hall Kiwanis Club offers its chicken barbecue Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Mill Hall Community Park. The menu includes half a chicken, coleslaw, baked beans and roll. A yard sale will be taking place in the park at the same time, sponsored by Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church.
WATERVILLE – The Waterville Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary offers a baked ham dinner served family style from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The menu includes potatoes, vegetable, coleslaw, applesauce, and choice of homemade desserts. Take-outs also are available.
Ham, turkey dinner
BASTRESS – A country-style ham and turkey dinner is planned Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., with take-outs available after 1 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Jacks Hollow Road, off Route 654.
Election Day eats
Good things to eat are offered on Tuesday which is Primary Election Day throughout our area, including:
r A hoagie, soup and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Castanea polls, sponsored by Faith Church.
r A lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Friendship Community Center, Beech Creek with ham and green beans, sloppy Joes, hot dogs, desserts.
r A pancake dinner from 5 to 7 p.m., with take-outs starting at 4:30, at Woolrich Community United Methodist Church, to support Woolrich Boy Scout Troop 66. The menu includes sausage, applesauce, and a dessert table. Advance tickets and information are available by calling 570-295-5575.
r A supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Jersey Shore, with take-out meals. The menu includes baked steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, applesauce, rolls with butter, and homemade cake.
JACKSONVILLE – A chicken barbecue and bake sale is planned Saturday from 11 a.m. until the food is gone at Jacksonville United Church of Christ. Options are half a chicken only, or a full meal which includes macaroni or potato salad, baked beans and a roll. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Bellefonte Youth Center.
HOWARD – A Mother’s Day banquet is offered Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Howard Fire Hall, including ham or turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, filling, noodles, vegetables, salad, a roll and homemade desserts. Howard Boy Scout Troop 353 is running the banquet, and information is available from Scoutmaster Diane Lucas at 814-280-8935.
‘Second Sunday Supper’
JERSEY SHORE – This month’s “Second Sunday Supper” on May 10 from noon to 1 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church features fiesta chicken. The meal is free to everyone in the community who is out and about that day.
