Karen, Galen Stone mark 50th anniversary

Karen and Galen Stone are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 27, 2018.

The couple was married at the North Bend United Methodist Church, where they are active members and will celebrate their anniversary there.

Karen is the daughter of Geraldine “Jerry” Bowes and the late James Pedokus.

Galen is the son of the late Harry and Eleanor Stone.

Karen and Galen graduated from Bucktail High School in 1966.

They are the parents of Marci Stone who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she is working on her doctorate degree in business; Galen Stone Jr. who is a retired Major in the Army and lives in Savannah, Ga.; Shelbie Stone Pickering who resides in Camp Hill and works for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and Kale Stone who resides in Dillsburg and works for the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General. Karen and Galen have three grandchildren and one great-grand child.

Karen worked for the State of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare office for over 30 years and retired in 1997. She has also tirelessly volunteered her time visiting members at the Bucktail Medical Center for over 40 years.

Galen Stone was part owner of Stone Brothers garage until 1972, then worked at Berwick, Forge & Fab and then went to work for K&L Auto Sales in 1982 and retired in 2009. He still works for K&L from time to time.

Karen and Galen are valued members of their church and community. Karen sings in the church and community choir, and led kids club for several years. Galen enjoys hunting, woodworking and home improvement projects. In their spare time, they enjoy camping, attending fairs and festivals and trips to Knoebels Grove with the grandchildren.
