Amy Serafini earns education doctorate

Amy Serafini of El Paso, Texas graduated with a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas at El Paso. The commencement ceremonies were held Friday and Saturday, May 13 and 14.

A graduate of Bucktail Area High School, Serafini is the daughter of William and Virginia Serafini of Renovo.

While studying at UTEP, Serafini served as a principal for the Socorro, El Paso, and Alpine Independent school districts. Serafini’s activities also included serving as a researcher and instructor in the Educational Leadership Department. In addition, she presented at state and local conferences with professors from the College of Education.

Serafini completed a dissertation titled “A Stranger in a Strange Land: An Autoethno-graphic Study of a School Principal in Transition.”

She was awarded the first postdoctoral fellowship offered by UTEP’s College of Education and plans to continue her research on school leadership, mentoring, and school improvement.

She is founder and CEO of Serafini Consulting Services.
