Jordon Sheets of Lock Haven has been awarded an “Out of State Scholarship” to attend Alfred State, the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Technology in Alfred, N.Y.
Sheets, who received a $4,000 scholarship, will graduate in 2018 from Central Mountain High School and has been accepted into the mechanical engineering technology (AAS) program at Alfred State.
This scholarship is awarded to first-time freshmen students who reside and attend high school outside of New York and will be studying on campus. Students must possess an 85 or better cumulative high school average through their junior year to be eligible.
Courtney Newlen of Lock Haven has received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Western Governors University (WGU).
The university held its 64th commencement ceremony at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando on Feb. 10 to celebrate the graduation of about 15,000 graduates from across the country.
