John Stevens’ Doubleshot to bring polka to Triangle Park

LOCK HAVEN — John Stevens’ Doubleshot will perform at Triangle Park tomorrow at 6 p.m. as part of the City of Lock Haven’s 2018 Summer Concert Series.

John Stevens’ Doubleshot formed in January 1995. As a young and energetic band it released its first cassette, “Doubleshot Preview.” In 1996 it released its first full recording, “Come on Let’s Dance” on cassette and CD. This recording opened many doors for the musicians, but that September, Doubleshot disbanded for a year while band members went back to school and found full-time jobs.

After not playing for almost a year, the group got back together and released its second recording, “Everyone’s Having Fun,” which got the ball rolling once again for the band, with numerous gigs on the East Coast and as far west as Wisconsin.

The song “Everyone’s Having Fun” was named the No. 1 tune of the year on the Jolly St. Nick’s Polka Revolution radio show.

Not only is John Stevens’ Doubleshot a polka band but it can mix up the music to fit any occasion. It has had the chance to perform at festivals such as Pillar Polkabration (Connecticut), The Bethlehem Musifest (Pennsylvania) and Blocktoberfest (D.C.).

The band’s main goal is to promote polka music to the younger generation and get them involved with this great extreme push music, polka.

The public is invited to attend the free summer concert and reminded to bring a lawn chair.

The rain location for the Friday evening summer concerts is the Elks, 219 E. Main St.

The 2108 concert series is sponsored by Bear Country Radio WQBR, The Lock Haven Express community newspaper, The Record, Anastos Brothers Auto Sales, Avis Building Supply, Calico Creek Feed and Pet, Central Pennsylvania Auto Auction, Clinton County, Clinton County Community Foundation, Clinton County Economic Partnership & Visitor’s Bureau, Diversified Asset Planners, Dotterer Equipment, First Quality, Gearhart Herr Insurance, Geisinger Jersey Shore, Hear the Birds Hearing Aid Center, Homestead Pools, Jersey Shore State Bank, Keller and Munro Pharmacy, Kliney’s Home Furnishings, Linn Realty, Loggia Giosue Carducci Lodge #146, Murray Motors, Pizza City, Stella A’s Bar & Grill, The Auto Barn, Triple D Truss, UPMC Susquehanna Lock Haven, Wayne Township Landfill, and Winner Carpet One, Williamsport.
