The Lindy Sisters return to Triangle Park Friday evening

PHOTO PROVIDED The Lindy Sisters will be performing at Triangle Park tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.

LOCK HAVEN — Costumes, seamed hosiery, red lips, hats and gloves, choreography, big band swing, vintage microphones and harmony! That’s the Lindy Sisters, a retrospective 1940’s trio of songstresses with three-part harmony reminiscent of the Andrew Sisters. And they are returning to perform this Friday in Triangle Park as part of the 2019 Lock Haven Summer Concert Series. The concert begins at 6 p.m.

Lana, Lynette, and Loralie have a heart for swing music. Singing together is as natural as breathing to this trio who has quickly become one of the most sought-after specialty acts on the West Coast. It all started about twelve years ago when the girls’ church hosted a vintage car show. They jumped in and put their unique talent and amazing harmonies to good use and learned some Andrews Sisters songs for the event. Before the day was over, they were booked for two paid gigs and needed to learn more material! The rest is history. Their three-part harmony is reminiscent of classic trios such as The Andrews Sisters, The Kings Sisters and The McGuire Sisters.

The Lindy Sisters’ passionate desire to transport their audiences to the glamorous era of swing, has landed them at venues such as The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, The Hip Kitty Jazz Club in Claremont, Redlands Bowl, The Sentimental Journey Fly-In, The Coffee Gallery Backstage in Pasadena, California Center for the Arts Escondido, The Cicada Club in Los Angeles, USO concerts, The Queen Mary in Long Beach, The U.S.S. Iowa in San Pedro as well as traveling tours on the east coast.

The Sisters often combine their talents with some of California’s greatest swing bands including Dean Mora and his Orchestra, Terry Hill’s Big Band All-Stars, and the Tex Beneke Orchestra. They have appeared in shows with Mary Lou Metzger, The Four Freshmen, Johnny Holiday, The Mills Brothers, Jan Daley, The Four Lads, Jennifer Keith and Toni Prima to name a few.

The Lindy Sisters are especially adored by veterans or any group that appreciates the nostalgic melodies of a time gone by. No matter what the event, audiences fortunate enough to experience these swinging songstresses are in for a treat! So, sit back, and let The Lindy Sisters take you on a sentimental journey.
