Uptown Music Collective to open the 2019 City of Lock Haven Summer Concert Series

LOCK HAVEN — The Uptown Music Collective will perform this Sunday, June 16, at 6:30 p.m., marking the start of the City of Lock Haven’s Sunday night concerts on the Floating Stage.

The Uptown Music Collective is a non-profit school of music based in Williamsport.

In the last 19 years, the Collective has grown from what many used to call “the best-kept secret in the Williamsport area,” to one of the area’s most highly respected, non-profit, educational organizations.

While the school is dedicated to providing a well-rounded education to students of all ages, it focuses many of its programs on students ages 10 to 18. The Uptown Music Collective is known for its positive peer group, inspiring teachers, and a diverse multitude of performance opportunities.

The school feels strongly about the role of music in creating well-rounded, thoughtful young people, and works to establish characteristics such as self-discipline and personal responsibility in each of its students through healthy habits such as practice and self-control.

Uptown Music Collective students consistently perform at high levels not only musically, but also in their respective schools and as valuable members of other community organizations.

This Sunday, there will be two groups performing on the floating stage–The 3rd Street Blues Band, and Sonic Wall Party.

“Kids playing the blues, but not a kid’s performance…” The Uptown Music Collective’s 3rd Street Blues Band performs modern and classic Blues and R&B music by legendary artists like Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Etta James, and more.

Ranging in age from 14 to 18 years old, the band has opened up the Billtown Blues Association’s 28th Annual Billtown Blues Festival at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds in Hughesville and participated in the 2018 Intentional Blues Challenge Youth Showcase in Memphis, Tenn. The members of this powerhouse band include Cade Palmatier (guitar), Anthony LaCerra (guitar), Shayne Williams (bass and vocals), Izzy Brumbaugh (keys), and Tate Berkey (drums).

Sonic Wall Party is an Uptown Music Collective student band that brings the party wherever it goes!

Covering artists like Earth, Wind, and Fire, David Bowie, The B-52’s, Stevie Wonder and many more, Sonic Wall Party’s music is fun, danceable, and highly entertaining. They have been the most requested Community Performance Group from the Collective during the 2018-2019 year!

Ranging in age from 14 to 18 years old, the members of the band consist of Ashlyn Bird (keys), Collin Franzen (drums), Isabella Cole (vocals), Molly Chapman (guitar), Andrew Head (bass), Cece Lutz (vocals), Julia Sauers (guitar), and Eli Wilk (guitar).
