TelePsychiatry now available at Keystone Counseling and Evaluation

LOCK HAVEN — Starting Monday, October 23, Dr. Ayesha Muquim, M.D., Psychiatrist, will be available to treat children, adolescents and adults via state of the art telemedicine technology at Keystone Counseling and Evaluation Services in Lock Haven.

In addition to providing mental health outpatient treatment by licensed psychotherapists, Keystone Counseling and Evaluation Services is excited to now offer psychiatry as a service option. For those seeking medications for their mental health needs, the new program provides a local option versus driving out of town. It also allows for a higher level of specialized management of psychotropic medications, reducing the time it takes to “get it right”.

Telemedicine is revolutionizing access to psychiatrists for rural communities like Lock Haven. Keystone Counseling’s state of the art teleconferencing technology will allow patients to be served at the 120 South Highland location, chatting with their psychiatrist face-to-face on a large screen video system. Prescriptions will then be electronically delivered to a local pharmacy of choice.

Dr. Muquim began her career as a psychiatrist in 1991 in Austin, Texas, where she completed her fellowship and residency programs with a concentration in children and adolescent populations. She then shifted her training to adult populations, gaining her board certification in psychiatry in 1995. Dr. Muquim has spent the last three years working via telehealth in Wisconsin and is very experienced with the evolving technology of telepsychiatry. Dr. Muquim also works as a professor of medicine and psychiatry currently, ensuring she stays at the forefront of psychiatric research and advances.

She is available Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8-noon and accepts most major insurance carriers. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call the office at 570-748-7173 or go to
