‘Profitable Meat Marketing’ workshop offered

MONTOURSVILLE — A “Profitable Meat Marketing” workshop presented by Matt Leroux, agriculture marketing specialist at Cornell Cooperative Extension, will be held Monday, March 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lysock View Complex’s Chapel Room.

Held in partnership with Penn State Extension, the workshop will show participants how to cover all their meat marketing costs — which include their time invested — as well as how to make a profit. Participants also will learn how to develop their farm’s marketing strategy and set marketing objectives.

In addition, Cornell’s new meat price calculator will be introduced for producers to develop pricing through their farm data, including their processing and marketing costs. The calculator can be used for any livestock except poultry, but poultry producers will benefit from the workshop’s other strategies.

Refreshments and a light meal will be provided by Misty Mountain Farms.
