Vehicles from times gone by

Francis Long of Flemington recently called and clarified information in our Old Photo Album photo of Oct. 26 showing a line of vehicles stopped on Bellefonte Avenue and backed up to Jones Street, waiting for two trains that took 13 minutes to pass, sometime in the early 1950s. The lead vehicle in the photo is a Packard Clipper, probably a 1950 model, and not a Buick coupe, Long said. The second vehicle is a Dodge, probably a 1938 or ’39, followed by a Ford dump truck from around 1941 or ’42. Also visible, Long said, is a Plymouth from 1939, the kind Long said he drove to take his driver’s test as a young man.
