BPW names Averie Hess ‘Girl of the Month’
JERSEY SHORE — The Business and Professional Women’s Club Girl of the Month for November is Averie Elizabeth Hess, daughter of Eric and Patty Hess of Jersey Shore.
Averie’s activities include the following: Relay for Life, School Musical, National Art Honor Society, Choir, Women’s Ensemble, Cross Country, National Honor Society, National Business Honor Society for one year; Prom Committee, two years; Basketball, FBLA, Outdoor Club, Class Committee, Track and Field, Student Council, Homecoming Committee, four years.
Averie is a diligent student who enjoys leadership opportunities. She has served as an officer in numerous clubs throughout her four high school years: treasurer of FBLA and Outdoor Club, secretary of National Honor Society and the class of 2018, vice president of FBLA and the class of 2018, and president of FBLA.
Outside school, Averie volunteers her time as a Sunday school teacher at Crossroads Community church. She works part-time as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Jersey Shore Area Community Pool.
Throughout Averie’s years in high school, she has accumulated numerous awards. She has a plethora of placings throughout the levels of FBLA, including eighth place at the state level in Publication and Design. She was selected for the Lioness Student of the Month award, was the HOBY Runner Up, and was a member of the Homecoming Court for four years. In athletics, Avery has lettered for three years in basketball and for two years in track and field. Additionally, she was awarded the Basketball Leadership Award and the Basketball Point Guard Award.
Averie enjoys spending time outside, hiking, boating, playing basketball, and spending time with friends and family. She plans to attend Juniata College to major in biology in special education.
