Meet Buddy and see ‘Elf the Musical’
WILLIAMSPORT — The Community Theatre League at 100 W. Third St. will present “Elf the Musical, Jr.” with shows Dec. 8 and 9 and Dec. 15 to 17.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. every day except Sunday, Dec. 17 when the show is at 2 p.m. Another 2 p.m. matinee is offered Saturday, Dec. 16, along with the 7:30 p.m. show that day.
Based on the film, the play centers on Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole where he is adopted as an elf. Blissfully unaware that he is a human, Buddy is faced with the truth when his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities make him stick out. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. When he finds out his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Brandy and Steve Aguirre direct this production.
A North Pole Party is offered before every show except the Saturday matinee. Kids can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy treats from Santa’s Sweet Shop, make their own special mix of Christmas Eve reindeer food, and participate in a coloring contest. Buddy the Elf and his Special Friends will make an appearance. One printed photo of the child and Santa will be available for pick-up in the first-floor lobby after the show.
The North Pole Party starts at 6 p.m. every day except Sunday, Dec. 17 when it starts at 12:30 p.m. There is a cost per child, but parents are free. Space is limited.
