Seat belt enforcement event begins in Centre

In anticipation of the increased traffic that typically occurs during the Thanksgiving holiday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and law enforcement agencies in Centre County kicked off a statewide Click It or Ticket (CIOT) seat-belt enforcement mobilization yesterday by holding a media event at Pizza Hut in State College. During the enforcement initiative, which continues through Dec. 3, Pizza Hut representatives will hand out seat belt safety information for adults and children. The information given is vital for motorists and passengers year-round, and during increased travel periods such as the Thanksgiving holiday, Black Friday, and deer season. The Pizza Hut locations participating include: Bellefonte, Brookville, Clarion, Clearfield, DuBois, Grove City, Mill Hall, Philipsburg, State College and St. Marys. All are owned by ARC Restaurant LLC. Shown, from left, are Officer Mike Mamolen of the State College Police Department, Sergeant Shawn Morrison of the Ferguson Township Police Department, Officer Adam Salyards of the SCPD, Officer Tony Roefaro of the Spring Township Police Department, Chief Mike Danneker of STPD, Corporal Tom Granville of the Pennsylvania State Police at Rockview, Operations Manager Dean Risser with ARC Restaurants, and Officer Kevin Winkelblech of the SCPD.
