Thanksgiving services, dinners offered

Communities will come together to celebrate Thanksgiving with worship and turkey dinners open to everyone.

TODAY

r The free Howard Community Thanksgiving Dinner is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Howard United Methodist Church. Non-perishable food items for the local food bank will be accepted. If more information is needed, call 814-625-2362.

WEDNESDAY

r The annual Nittany Valley community Thanksgiving Eve service will be held at 7 p.m. at Lamar United Methodist Church on Route 64, sponsored by the Nittany Valley Fellowship. The refreshments will feature pies. Everyone is asked to donate canned goods to be divided among the area food banks, as will the offering.

r The Nippenose Valley service also will be held at 7 p.m., hosted by Antes Fort United Methodist Church on Main Street. Pastor Wanda Minnich will preach and other area pastors will participate.

THURSDAY

r Trinity United Methodist Church, corner of Allegheny and Glover streets, Jersey Shore, is hosting the free Thanksgiving Day dinner sponsored by Jersey Shore area churches and service organizations. The dinner with all the trimmings is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If transportation is needed, call 570-398-2913 or 570-337-8329, and leave a name, address and phone number.

r Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., Lock Haven, is sponsoring its annual free Thanksgiving Day dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call the church at 570-748-2810 (Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.) to place orders for delivery or carry-out, or to make reservations for eating in.

r The Bellefonte Knights of Columbus offer a free Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in their hall at 315 Stoney Batter.

r Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, off Main Street, offers a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with dine-in and take-out meals available. For delivery in the Beech Creek area, call 570-295-7217 or 570-962-2732.

SUNDAY, NOV. 26

r The annual Lock Haven area community service will be held at Hillview Wesleyan Church, 1200 W. Fourth St., Flemington, at 7 p.m. Area churches will present their congregations’ One-Gallon Challenge donations at this service. A choir made up of members of the participating churches will provide the music for the service, and the choir will rehearse at 5 p.m. A pumpkin fellowship with pumpkin refreshments will be held at 6 p.m.
