What’s happening in Howard? By Tammy Coakley
Thank you to all who contributed to the Friendship Community Center’s Fall Bazaar held in November. In addition to the vendors there was a basket raffle held to benefit Sandi Boob. There were 37 basket items donated with a wide variety of themes. Fay Confer won the 50/50.
Sandi surely appreciates the prayers and good wishes as she is still recovering from her serious illness.

The event runs from 9-11 a.m. and will feature breakfast, kid’s crafts and photos with Santa. Bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Howard Area Lions Food Bank. This event is the Senior Class Project of Raine Smith and is sponsored by Woodmen Life and other local businesses.
Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard will have a Holiday Dinner and Concert on the evening of Dec. 2 . A dinner is planned and the Keystone State Quartet from Ebensburg will provide the Southern-style Gospel concert. Proceeds from this event will help with the cost of the church gym facility. More info as to the time, the cost and how to reserve your seating will be coming soon or you may contact Greta or Pastor Chris at 570-962-2214.
The annual Santa Jump Jamboree will be held in Beech Creek on Saturday, Dec. 9. Food and craft vendors will be set up and there’s still time for some last minute vendors to get accepted. Call Billie at 570-962-9944 or Wendy at 570-295-0421 for a vendor application or for more info.
This year Santa and his elves will parachute onto the ball field at 1:00, weather permitting that the plane can fly. Vendors will be set up in the Friendship Community Center and the fire company social hall and along the grounds from the ball field to the borough building. There will be bike give-aways for three age groups and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary will be giving away turkeys and hams. Santa will meet and greet the children and hand out treats upon his arrival. Strolling characters will be on scene for photos to be taken with them throughout the day.
