WILLIAMSPORT — The Community Theatre League, Williamsport’s leading community theatre, announces its second annual “Evening with a Star” fundraising concert and master class, starring Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Laura Osnes.

The events will be held Saturday, July 14, with the concert at 7:30 p.m.

Laura Osnes most recently completed a starring run in the Tony-winning Broadway musical “Bandstand.”

Her other Broadway credentials include Cinderella in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” (a Drama Desk Award winner), Bonnie Parker in “Bonnie and Clyde” after creating the role at Asolo Repertory Theatre and La Jolla Playhouse (San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award), Hope Harcourt in the Tony-winning revival of “Anything Goes,” Nellie Forbush in Lincoln Center Theater’s production of “South Pacific,” and Sandy in the most recent revival of “Grease.”

On television, she has been seen on the CBS series “Elementary,” in the HBO pilot “The Miraculous Year,” “Sondheim: The Birthday Concert at Avery Fisher Hall,” HBO’s documentary “Six By Sondheim,” and the Kennedy Center Honors salutes to Barbara Cook (2011) and Dustin Hoffman (2012).

Her many concerts and cabarets include performing with Michael Feinstein, the New York Philharmonic, The New York Pops, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, The Boston Pops, The San Francisco Symphony, The National Symphony Orchestra, as well as appearing in such venues as Carnegie Hall, The Cafe Carlyle, 54 Below, Lincoln Center, and The Smith Center in Las Vegas.

In addition to being heard on several cast recordings, Laura has two solo albums, “Dream a Little Dream: Live at The Cafe Carlyle” and “If I Tell You: The Songs of Maury Yeston.”

In addition to the concert, Osnes will host a Broadway Master Class at noon the same day. This is an opportunity for artists of all ages to observe her working with select participants, learning the techniques, tips and tricks of a Broadway performer, and hearing personal stories from her life.

A limited number of tickets are also available for a post-concert meet-and-greet.

In 2017, the Community Theatre League hosted Stephanie J. Block for its first “Evening with a Star.”

This fundraising concert, which brings a Broadway star to Williamsport, is a chance for many people to have an up-close and personal experience with one of Broadway’s biggest stars. And in CTL’s 167-seat thrust-stage theatre, it’s an intimate and relaxed environment, without the hassle of traveling to New York City.

Tickets start at $40 and are available at ctlshows.com or by phone at 570-327-1777. Tickets are limited for all events. Sponsorship and donor packages are available.
