Linda Sosniak seeks 84th District seat
PICTURE ROCKS — Picture Rocks borough council member and businesswoman Linda Sosniak has announced her candidacy for the 84th District, PA House of Representatives. She is running as a Democrat in the May 15 Primary.
Republican Garth Everett currently holds that position, having been elected in 2006 after the retirement of Brett Feese. During Sosniak’s 28-year career with the U.S. Postal Service, she rose from a rural mail carrier to postmaster of Linden, Milton, State College, Scranton, Hilton Head, S.C., and Savannah Ga. She headed the educational Ben Franklin Stamp Program for the Harrisburg District, and served as Postal Service Disaster Relief Coordinator for the U.S. Eastern Shore.
After campaigning in 47 states, she became the first female National Secretary-Treasurer of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States.
Sosniak holds a B.A. in Business Management, and is a graduate of the Advanced Leadership Program at the William F. Bolger Management Center, near Washington, D.C.
Linda raised her family in Hughesville, where she was very involved in extracurricular programs for area schoolchildren. She instructed baton/rifle/flag drill teams, co-founded the Pop Warner Football and Little Spartan Wrestling programs, and served as president of the Hughesville High School Booster Club. She and her husband Johnny attend Friends Church in Hughesville.
The 84th includes all or part of the following Lycoming County communities plus two townships in Union County: Anthony, Bastress, Brady, Brown, Cascade, Cogan House, Cummings, Eldred, Fairfield, Franklin, Gamble, Hepburn, Hughesville, Jackson, Jersey Shore, Jordan, Lewis, Limestone, Lycoming, McHenry, McIntyre, McNett, Mifflin, Mill Creek, Montoursville, Moreland, Muncy Creek, Muncy, Nippenose, Penn, Piatt, Picture Rocks, Pine, Plunketts Creek, Porter, Salladasburg, Shrewsbury, Upper Fairfield, Washington, Watson, Wolf, Gregg, and White Deer.
