Matt Wise receives Kiwanis membership award
MILL HALL — Matt Wise has received a special award from Kiwanis International recognizing his success in bringing new members into the Kiwanis organization.
He is a member and former president of the Kiwanis Club of Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys and current Kiwanis Pennsylvania District Region 4 trustee.
Jane M. Erickson, 2016-17 president of Kiwanis International, wrote in a letter accompanying the award certificate: “Because of your successful efforts welcoming new Kiwanians into our communities, I am proud to bestow on you Gold level distinction of The Gift of Kiwanis Award. Your commitment to sharing Kiwanis with others allows more children to be happy, healthy, safe, and loved. Plus, those new members get to experience the service, fellowship and fulfillment that we love as part of Kiwanis.”
Kiwanis of BENV President Della Watson presented the award certificate and an accompanying Kiwanis tie to Matt at a recent club meeting.
Christian Women’s Club luncheon planned
FLEMINGTON — The Lock Haven Christian Women’s Club plans a lunch program Wednesday, March 21 at 11:50 a.m. at Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Fairpoint Road, Mill Hall. The theme is “All the Right Moves.”
Brenda Grove from Curves, an exercise facility in Mill Hall, will give a program.
Doris Ortman will provide music and be the speaker of the day. The Chambersburg resident is a former music teacher who has MS and has been in a wheelchair for 30 years. She speaks about riding through life with laughter and tears.
The cost is $15 per person. All area women are invited.
The location allows for on-site child care for young mothers. Nursery reservations must be made at the time of luncheon reservations. Mothers are asked to bring a lunch or snack for the child.

KCSD superintendent of schools to speak
LOCK HAVEN — The substitute superintendent of schools in Keystone Central School District, Dr. Alan Lonoconus, will address the Lock Haven Kiwanis Club at its luncheon meeting at noon Thursday, March 22.
Also speaking that day is Charles Rosamilia, president of the Keystone Central School Board.
On March 15, Rachael Bischof will speak about her studio, Rachael’s Dance Unlimited, and D. Wayne Bender, executive director of the Pennsylvania Hardwoods Development Council, will address the club on March 29.
Conrad Schlesinger is the program chair for the month.
LH hospital auxiliary to meet
LOCK HAVEN — The UPMC Lock Haven Hospital Auxiliary will meet Monday, March 19 at 1 p.m. in the meeting room off the hospital’s front lobby. All members are welcome.
