WILLIAMSPORT — The Community Arts Center and the Williamsport Community Concert Association bring to the stage The Chieftains!

The Lycoming Choir and a group of local bagpipe players will also be sharing the stage for an unforgettable performance.

The Chieftains are a six-time Grammy Award-winning band known for bringing a new vision to Irish music. The group was formed in 1962 by Paddy Moloney, one of the top traditional folk musicians in Ireland and around the world. After more than 50 years the band has grown into one of the most renowned and experimental Irish bands known today.

Combining their musical talents with historical and cultural stories, The Chieftains have made music history by pushing genre boundaries and popularizing traditional Irish music. Earning the honorary title of “Ireland’s Musical Ambassadors,” The Chieftains are still making critically acclaimed music that remains as fresh and relevant as when they first began.

They were awarded the inaugural National Concert Hall Lifetime Achievement honor “in recognition of their tremendous contribution to the music industry worldwide and the promotion of the best of Irish culture.”

Their performance will take place at the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 9. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased online at CACLive.com, by phone at 570-326-2424 or at the CAC box office. Tickets range from $28 to $68. Student discounts are available.
