LOGANTON — Lions Club International holds a Peace Poster Contest each year, which is an opportunity for clubs to stress the importance of peace, tolerance and international understanding to youth in their community.

The Sugar Valley Lions Club participated with the contest, to encourage young people to think about peace and creatively express what it means to them and share their own unique visions with the world.

This year the theme was ” The Future Of Peace.”

The Sugar Valley club invited the local winners in first, second and third place, along with their parents and their art teacher, to a recent club dinner meeting to display their posters and be honored.

Jessica Caples, the art teacher from Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, introduced the winners.

First place went to Amelia Pennycoff, second to Bryer Martin and third to Emma Downing. The first-place winner will have her poster go on to the the district level.

Club secretary Maureen Albright, chair of this committee, recognized each of the winners with a cash prize and thanked them all for their beautiful posters.
