LOGANTON — Chelsy Lamey, daughter of Wayne and Melissa Lamey of Loganton, was recognized at a recent Sugar Valley Lions Club dinner.

Lions District Governor Cheryl Wilbur of District 14G was guest speaker at the dinner. She gave a dynamic presentation about the growth of Lionism in the district and examples of what club members can do to help more people. One of the programs she is committed to is diabetes awareness.

Chelsy is a senior at Sugar Valley Rural Charter School and she also is committed to diabetes awareness, as her cousin, Colin Lamey, has Type 1 diabetes.

For her senior project this year, she designed and sold T-shirts with the Diabetes Awareness logo and held a Spirit Week at her school. She raised $650 for this cause and presented the funds to the district governor for the Lions Diabetes Awareness Program.

Her mother and sister accompanied her to the dinner.
