The annual Ole Bull “Children’s Fishing Derby” will be held Saturday for kids 12 and under in Ole Bull State Park. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at Pavilion 4 (Stone Pavilion), and fishing will go from 10 a.m. until noon. Prizes will be awarded at 12:15 p.m. at the amphitheater. T-shirts and lunch are provided for participating kids. For more information, call 814-435-5000.
Also at Ole Bull State Park this Saturday, at 2 p.m., George Kutskel, president of the Allegheny Mountain Trout Unlimited Organization, will present “Fly-Tying for Children.” The program will focus on techniques used to mimic and present the perfect fly to the trout. This program is targeted to families with children, but all are welcome to attend. Meet at Pavilion 4 (Stone Pavilion).
‘Silly old bear’
The Pennsylvania Military Museum, 51 Boal Ave., Boalsburg, has scheduled its annual lecture/movie “The Bear That Inspired Winnie the Pooh” for June 9 at 1:30 p.m. Donations are encouraged.
The Clinton County Genealogical Society will hear a presentation June 12 by Chuck Weaver of the Sugar Valley Historical Society on the recognition of the 100th anniversary of the tragic Loganton fire that occurred June 20, 1918. The meeting will be at the Church of the Latter Day Saints, 8 Noll Drive, Mill Hall, at 7 p.m. The meeting is free.
