It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Summer

By KATIE BURROWS

Summer is quickly approaching. Although there are still assignments to turn in and school days to attend, that doesn’t stop the buzz of excitement from students and faculty when the topic of summer is brought up. Whether it’s an upcoming trip or just laying around in the sun, the idea of no school and summer plans makes everyone excited.

“This summer my mom is considering taking my siblings and I to the New England states and then possibly to Asheville, South Carolina in August.” Junior Emma Persun explained about her summer plans.

“My dad is also taking my siblings and I to the beach in July and hopefully I’ll also be attending some killer concerts, like Warped Tour, Panic! At the Disco, and Post Malone,” Persun continued. Along with going on all these trips, Persun will also be working at the Lock Haven Beach and the Mill Hall Pool as a lifeguard.

Junior Trey Reeder will also be going on a fun summer trip to Dewey Beach in Delaware, sometime during the month of July. ” While we are there we will visit the first ever town or one of the oldest towns, I can’t remember which.” Reeder explained about the activities that he will take part in while on the trip.

“We will also spend a lot of time at the beach swimming and playing spike ball and volleyball. I really enjoy doing these things with my older brother because we’re both very competitive.” When Reeder is not spending his time at the beach or just hanging out in the sun he will be working at his father’s business, Treco Builders, where he will be doing carpentry work.

English teacher Deborah Moore will be spending her summer a little differently from the students at Central Mountain.

Moore, soon to be Kline, is getting married at the beginning of the summer and is really looking forward to it. Along with getting married Moore has also accepted a week long fellowship at the Holocaust Museum in New York City, where she will get to learn about all the different resources and programs they have.

That’s not all, Moore is also awaiting the visit of her nephew from Indiana who calls his stay “Camp Aunt Deb.” Moore is super excited for her upcoming summer plans.

Junior Kyle Barner is taking a trip to California during the month of May.

“I am attending my brothers graduation from San Diego State University. I am also going to tour Los Angeles and visit beaches and other places.” Barner’s actual summer vacation will look a little different from his trip.

“I have two jobs this summer, I will be mowing grass and working at Dominos. When I’m not working I will be sleeping in most day, going to the gym to workout and play basketball, and hanging out with friends.” Barner explained about the rest of his summer plans.

With summer approaching and all out great plans it is hard to stay focused in school and on all our assignments but it is important to keep our heads because before we know it, August will be here and we will be starting school all over again. So enjoy all the time we have left in school and out of it!
