It was a festive occasion with an “Island Fare” theme. The district governor, many past district governors, other visiting dignitaries and club members all dressed in Hawaiian attire for the festivities.

Lion Carl Beck received the Pennsylvania Fellowship Award, which recognizes outstanding individuals who have performed above and beyond the cause of Lionism. Past District Governor Kerry Drake presented it to him for his 17 years with 100% attendance. Beck has been involved on many committees, has been a Lion of the Year and is the incoming president.

Lion Maureen Albright was given a Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest award a club can give a member. District Governor Elect Howard Haus recognized her for her membership of 20 years with 100% attendance. She has held several offices and has been the club secretary for many years. She has been a chairman for many committees , is a past Lion of the Year and has received a Pennsylvania Fellowship Award.

On the district level, she was a zone chairman and was District 14-G’s convention chairman.

Lion Maureen Albright received the Melvin Jones Award.

Lion Ken Bressler received the Lion of the Year Award for his many years of service to the club, and outstanding support and leadership in many club projects and events.

Club President Bob Mills presented the award. Mills also was given a plaque recognizing the conclusion of his outstanding year as president.

The Sugar Valley Lions are committed to providing the community with the highest quality of service and to answering the needs of the community through their volunteer efforts.

Ken Bressler was named Lion of the Year.
