JS Kiwanis hears from young leader
JERSEY SHORE — At a recent Jersey Shore Kiwanis Club meeting, Sarah Alexander gave a presentation and took questions about her experience representing the club at the Hugh O’Brien Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar, held at Shippensburg University this spring.
This year was the 40th anniversary of the seminar, which is grounded in three core principles: leadership, service and innovation. It features activities to develop self-confidence, public speaking and networking.
The daughter of Scott and Michelle Alexander of Jersey Shore, she had the experience of stepping onto the Pennsylvania Senate floor to give her opinion on a proposed bill.
She will be a junior at Jersey Shore Area High School and is looking forward to helping make communities better.
The Jersey Shore Kiwanis Club meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Gamble Farm Restaurant and welcomes any potential members.
