Prowl the Sprowl cancelled

HYNER — The 15th Annual Prowl the Sproul hiking weekend has been cancelled.

“Due to very low enrollment this year, we are cancelling this program,” Keystone Trails Association Executive Director Joe Neville reported Tuesday.

Neville said enrollment has been dwindling over the past few years and the decision was made to cancel the event which was scheduled July 27-29 in the Sproul state forest.

He said he believes people are tired of hiking the same trails year after year and are looking for new adventures and challenges.

That said, Neville reported that the association is looking at some new programs, including an event much like Prowl the Sprowl that is planned for next June in the Tiadaghton State Forest of the Pine Creek Valley.
