STATE COLLEGE – The students of the Young Scholars of Central Pennsylvania (YSCP) Charter School will hold a Meet the Candidates night at their school on Thursday, Oct. 18, beginning at 7 p.m.
The candidates for U.S. Senate and House of Representatives from the 15th and 12th Congressional Districts, the 34th Pennsylvania Senatorial District, and Centre County’s state representative seats in the 76th, 77th, 81st, and 171st Legislative Districts have been invited.
The event is being sponsored by the YSCP Charter School’s Student Government class. The students will monitor the event and pose national and state related questions to the respective candidates.
The public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the event.
The YSCP is the first school in Centre County to be designated an International Baccalaureate World School. International Baccalaureate is a program offered to students to help develop intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn, and work in a globalizing world.
It encourages international-mindedness in IB students.
Students must first develop an understanding of their own cultural and national identity. They ensure that their programs are accessible to students in a wide variety of schools.
YSCP teaches students from kindergarten to eighth grade and have Spanish and Chinese as part of their language curriculum.
The YSCP Charter School is located at 1530 Westerly Parkway, State College. For more information, contact CEO-Principal, Dr. Levent Kaya, at 814-237-9727.
