SV Historical Society to hold membership meeting
LOGANTON — On Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. the Sugar Valley Historical Society will hold their general membership meeting. Prior to the meeting, Mr. Jimmy Brown will give a presentation on the Civil War and the history of Hampton’s Battery F.
Jimmy is from Spring Mills in Centre County and has been in Civil War reenacting since he was three weeks old. He has a lifelong love of history and preserving it for the future.
For his presentation he will be dressed in the uniform of a Union Artillery Sergeant and will present a hands-on experience, showing reproduction items from the era, clothing, personal items and equipment of the soldier in his display.
He will also talk about the history of the Civil War unit, Hampton’s Battery F.
Along with information on Centre County Civil War history he will include information on Penns Valley’s involvement in the war. In his program Mr. Brown will focus on artillery used during the Civil War. There will also be a time for questions.
