Covenant Cafe to
celebrate Valentine’s Day
LOCK HAVEN –The Covenant Cafe, an early stage Alzheimer’s activity group, will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 1-3 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St.
The group will decorate a Valentine vase and participate in some Valentine trivia games. Professional storyteller Patricia will entertain the group during the second part of the session. She will use a Talking Stick, which is a Native American tradition, to involve the group in her storytelling. Exercise, including Tai Chi and light refreshments will close the session.
The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Outreach and Witness Committee of Covenant United Methodist, the Alzheimer’s Support Group and the Alzheimer’s Association. Participants in this group are given an opportunity to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs which will help them remain as active as possible.

Workshop on starting
a small business
LOCK HAVEN — Have you always had a dream to start your own business but didn’t know where to start? This workshop will help aspiring entrepreneurs to begin the process of successful business ownership including evaluating business ideas, developing a business plan, and exploring financing options. The presenters/discussion leaders for this workshop are the members of the SBDC staff and a local commercial lender.
Attendees will learn:
– Unique lifestyle requirements involved in owning a business
– How to assess the feasibility of their business idea
– Differences between business organization structures
– How to develop a business plan
– How to obtain financing
– How to market their product or service
– The applications and licenses needed to start their company
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 22 at 1127 W. Fourth St., Willilamsport.

meeting Feb. 9
JERSEY SHORE — The Jersey Shore Historical Society is holding their winter meeting on Saturday Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Samuel Moss House, 200 S. Main St.
The agenda includes designs for a new sign, upcoming programs and committee reports.
This meeting is open to the public, so please join us and share your ideas for programs.
‘Birding by Ear’
WILLIAMSPORT — The Lycoming Audubon program “Birding By Ear” will be presented by Lauri Shaffer on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m. at the J.V. Brown Library in the Lowry Room on the third floor of the Welch wing, 19 E. Fourth St.
Designed for beginning and intermediate birders, Lauri’s presentation will include many bird songs, photos, and mnemonics, as well as a handout with additional resources.
The program is free and open to the public.
