Conservation district taking orders for tree seedlings

MILL HALL –Orders are now being taken by the Clinton County Conservation District for its 42nd annual tree seedling sale. Proceeds from tree seedling sales are used to fund various educational programs, such as school booklets and field days.

April is tree planting month in Pennsylvania, and for several good reasons: temperatures are usually moderate and soils are moist for maximum freshness.

– Available at five for $8 are Balsam Fir, Douglas Fir, Colorado Blue Spruce, White Flowering Dogwood, Sugar Maple and Red Chokeberry.

– Available at five for $10 are American Arborvitae.

– Minimum order this year is five of each seedling.

Also, apple trees in a bundle of two (one Honeycrisp and one Gala) for $35. These apple trees are all approximately 4-6 feet tall.

The pick-up date is Thursday, April 25 from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Conservation District office, which is in the Clinton County Resource and Education Center, 45 Cooperation Lane, Mill Hall (the former Geisinger Medical Building along Route 64 north of Lamar).

The Clinton County Conservation District is not responsible for seedlings that are not picked up by 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 26. Please call before April 18 if you will not be able to meet the deadline for picking up your seedlings.
