Work at Fish Pond cancelled
Work scheduled to begin Saturday morning at the Wayne Township Fish Pond has been cancelled, as permits have not been received yet. Watch for information on the next work day at the pond.
Ice Cream Festival at Swissdale Church
Ice Cream Festival at Swissdale Church, 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, featuring homemade ice cream — chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter, pineapple, strawberry, maple nut and banana — along with hot sausage, hot dogs, bar-b-ques and funnel cakes. Also games for the kids.
Civil War
Round table
There will be a Civil War Roundtable on Monday, Sept. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Avenue 209 Coffee House, 209 Bellefonte Ave., Lock Haven. There will be open discussion on favorite stories of the Civil War. An example of which is that Jennie Wade was the only civilian killed during the Battle of Gettysburg. However, 11 were killed after the battle picking up souvenirs. All are welcome to attend.
Library gears up for book sale
The Annie Halenbake Ross Library will hold its annual book sale Sept. 18-21 on the library patio. The hours are Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday is “Bag Day” and shoppers will pay $5 for as many books that they can fit into a bag.
One-room school open Sunday
The Barton Street/Allison Township one-room school will be open on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. as part of the second Sunday programs offered by the Historical Society.
