Dining with Diabetes classes offered
JERSEY SHORE – Dining with Diabetes classes will be offered by Penn State Extension and Jersey Shore Hospital to inform diabetics about some of the most important things they need to know about how to manage diabetes.
Extension educators will lead discussions addressing: Important numbers you need to know; planning healthy meals; healthy food preparation and physical activity.
Classes are offered weekly for four weeks, with a three-month follow-up class at Jersey Shore Hospital. Each class offers food demonstrations and tastings, physical activity, ideas to take home, and discussions regarding important information to help you manage your diabetes. Lab tests will be offered to measure A1c. Classes will meet on Mondays, March 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 4-6p.m.
Pain workship slated
BELLEFONTE – A Beyond Chronic Pain Inflammation and Dietary Intervention workshop is slated Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016 from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. at Indigo Wren’s Nest Wellness Centre, 111 S Spring St., Bellefonte.
Angie Wallace is Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition and practices at BeWell Associates in State College. Her holistic approach looks at the underlying causes of inflammation, and how to address them using supplementation and dietary interventions. The purpose is to invite metaphysical, subtle energy and complimentary modalities into our daily routines as we move through the challenges of living with chronic pain.
The meetings are interactive with hands-on experiences. Wear comfortable clothing and dress in layers. Family members, care givers and those that support others with chronic pain are encouraged to attend. This is offered as a community outreach program. While there is never a fee to attend, monitory donations are accepted to offset the use of the space.

aide job fair
MUNCY – Susquehanna Health Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is hosting two job fair sessions for nurse aides on Thursday, Feb. 18 and the Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Muncy Valley Hospital, 215 E. Water St., Muncy. Sessions will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
During the sessions nurse aides can tour the facilities, meet with managers and discuss benefits, education assistance programs and current employment opportunities.
Light refreshments and door prizes will be available for attendees.

nurse open interviews
WILLIAMSPORT – Susquehanna Health is hosting open interviews for graduate nurses Saturday, Feb. 27 at 8:30 a.m. in the Education and Conference Center, Williamsport Regional Medical Center, 700 High St.
During the open interviews, graduate nurses will have the opportunity to interview with managers from throughout the health system as well as discuss benefits, compensation and specialty programming offered to employed nurses. Graduate nurse openings are available at Susquehanna Health facilities in Lycoming and Tioga Counties.

SH to celebrate
National Day of Dance
WILLIAMSPORT – Susquehanna Health’s Spirit of Women program will hold its annual Day of Dance event The Power to Boogie, Saturday, Feb. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Williamsport YMCA, 641 Walnut St., Williamsport.
Women who sign up for free Spirit of Women membership are eligible to attend this dance filled day that focuses on women’s heart health. The event includes fitness dance demonstrations attendees can participate in, free health screenings, shopping, giveaways and prizes.
Attendees will be able to participate in Zumba, Zumba Toning, Aqua Zumba, Shape Up, yoga, African Dance and many other demonstrations that will take place throughout the day, as well as health screenings such as posture scans, breast cancer risk assessments, breathing tests, balance testing, colon cancer risk assessments and more.
This is the fifth year Susquehanna Health will participate in this nationwide event to create healthier communities. Day of Dance expects to attract over 300 women.
