UPMC Endocrinology establishes local inpatient telemedicine program

WILLIAMSPORT – UPMC Susquehanna is now offering inpatient telemedicine at Williamsport Regional Medical Center. The new inpatient TeleEndocrine program is led by endocrinologists Lauren Willard, DO, and Yunjiao Wang, MD, and is designed to provide expert recommendations for the most unusual and complex endocrine conditions in collaboration with the local care team. Depending on individual patient needs, this can be as simple as a phone call between physicians up to and including a live telemedicine visit at the bedside.

“The UPMC Division of Endocrinology in Pittsburgh is ranked in the top 10 nationally and is the only ranked program available in northeast and central Pennsylvania,” said Jan Fisher, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for UPMC Susquehanna. “Telemedicine is at the forefront of modern medicine and is helping connect patients to resources that were not possible in the past. Through this program, we are providing innovative and quality care coordinated by world-renowned experts, right here in our communities.”

“We are very excited to have this caliber of care available for our patients locally and plan to expand to additional locations throughout the region over the coming months,” said Peter Strecker, Telehealth Program Coordinator for UPMC Susquehanna.
