Centre Crest has new director of nursing
BELLEFONTE — Jennifer Brooks, RN, has been promoted to director of nursing at Centre Crest.
Brooks started with Centre Crest in 2001 as a Certified Nursing Assistant while attending school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked her way through the ranks as an LPN from Graduate Nurse to Floor Nurse, to Med Nurse, and finally to Wound Nurse, until 2011. She enrolled in school again to become a Registered Nurse in 2013 and earned her license in 2016.
As an RN, she worked as a night shift RN supervisor until she was offered the position of RN unit manager on the Centre Crest rehabilitation unit known as Laurel Circle. In May 2017 she was promoted again, to assistant director of nursing overseeing quality, infection control, and wounds. In December, she was selected as the top candidate to become Centre Crest’s director of nursing.
When asked why she chose a career in nursing at a skilled nursing facility, she said, “It’s changing all the time. It’s never stagnant.”
“I have been here for many years and I just enjoy everybody that I work with,” she said.
She has been able to grow and expand her skills at the facility, she said.
Brooks grew up in State College and is a graduate of State College Area High School. She resides in Clarence, and is married with four children.
She enjoys spending time with her Great Dane, Nala, and traveling with her daughter for all-star cheering. She also loves college football and is an avid Penn State fan.
