DANVILLE — Geisinger has become the first healthcare system in Pennsylvania and the fourth in the world to earn the prestigious HIMSS Analytics Stage 6 Adoption Model for Analytics Maturity (AMAM) validation. This award recognizes integrated application of information systems and analytics to improve clinical, operational, research and financial processes for healthcare.

HIMSS Analytics, a global healthcare IT market intelligence, research and standards organization, developed the AMAMas a methodology to measure and advance an organization’s analytics capabilities. This international eight-stage (Stage 0 – Stage 7) model measures the capabilities an organization has gained from the installation of data warehousing technology and data governance to assure validated data as a foundation for traditional and creative applications.

Geisinger has achieved AMAM Stage 6, emphasizing a strong foundation of data content, infrastructure, data governance and analytics competency.

Only two organizations in the world have reached the next, prestigious AMAM Stage 7 — Duke Health and University of North Carolina Health. Geisinger joins Rush Health in Chicago and King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Saudi Arabia as the next Stage 6 achievers.

The recognition complements Geisinger’s recent validation as a clinical inpatient Stage 7 health system, as tracked by the HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM?). The health system validated at Stage 7 for the outpatient adoption model as well. In contrast to AMAM validations, over 350 organizations have achieved EMRAM Stage 7.
