Mount Nittany Health names new administrator
STATE COLLEGE – Damon D. Sorensen, MBA, has been named Executive Vice President, Finance and Administrative Services at Mount Nittany Health.
With more than 30 years of healthcare finance and operations experience, Sorensen most recently served as Chief Financial Officer with Ascension Borgess, one of the nation’s largest non-profit health systems, including Borgess Medical Center, a 422-bed flagship teaching hospital along with a specialty care hospital, critical access hospital and outpatient facilities in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Before joining Ascension, Damon held the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with McLaren Healthcare in Bay City and Mount Clemens, Mich. His extensive healthcare finance experience also includes Wilmed Healthcare, Wilson, N. C.; Alpena Regional Medical Center, Alpena, Mich.; CMH Healthcare, Inc., Cheboygan, Mich.; and St. Mary’s Hospital, Detroit Lakes, Minn. Damon also has experience in quality financial management during his work with Durocher Dock and Dredge, a marine construction business, where he served as Vice President of Finance to aid in the continued growth of the company.
Sorensen earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Moorhead State University, Moorhead, Minn., and his Master of Business Association from Lake Superior State University in Sault Sainte Marie, Mich. He is a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
