UPMC to host diabetes education class series

WILLIAMSPORT — UPMC Susquehanna’s Diabetes and Nutrition Care Center offers a five-session diabetes education class throughout the year. Class participants receive a Living Well with Diabetes and Self Care workbook and a blood glucose meter.

Diabetes is a chronic condition that requires many decisions to successfully manage blood sugar and prevent diabetes-related health problems. These decisions include what to eat, when to eat, when to take medicine, blood sugar checks, what to do for high/low blood sugars, and how to keep it all under control.

Participants must obtain a referral to the class from their primary care physician.

To register, call 570-326-8410. For more information, visit UPMCSusquehanna.org/Diabetes.

The March series of classes are scheduled on Thursdays March 7, 14, 21 and 28 with the final class from 9-10 a.m on June 20.

The May series is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays May 1, 8, 15 and 22, and the final class will be from 2-3 p.m. Aug. 7.
