Bridge repairs near Salona start
SALONA — Bridge repairs began Tuesday on a Route 220 bridge near Salona, as part of a larger roadway project in Centre and Clinton counties, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
The bridge spans Gilmore Road, with repair work taking place underneath the bridge. This work will require lane restrictions on Gilmore Road between Ingram’s Market and the Hanson Quarry.
Drivers on Gilmore Road will encounter lane restrictions, with roadway flaggers enforcing an alternating traffic pattern. No traffic impacts are expected on Route 220.
PennDOT expects repair work to continue through November, depending on the weather.
This work is part of a larger project in Clinton and Centre counties that began in June 2015 to improve the ride quality and life cycle of roadway surfaces along more than 16 miles on 13 state routes in the two counties.
Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $4.7 million contract.
PennDOT reminds drivers to be cautious in all work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
