MILL HALL — The Central Mountain High School Student Council did something really neat in picking a theme for the recent Spirit Week-Homecoming.

Those chose “Across The USA” and with the help and leadership of Mrs. Gloria Bowers, high school art teacher, the concept of the American Flag was brought to life.

Bobby George, a senior, and Sarah Probst started the design and were joined by Jadyen Genua and Abby Weaver to help finish creating the flag.

When Mrs. Bowers, as a typical artist, looks at an empty canvas she is able to see what she wants to produce.

Her canvas this time was the window of the school’s cafeteria.

As usual, people couldn’t see what she was describing but these four students were able to and brought her vision to reality.

Volunteering both their time and energy to create this modern-looking flag, they said, was an honor.

(This story was compiled by Express free-lancer Phil Mapstone, who said, “With today’s bad press that the flag has been receiving, it’s good — at least for this Navy veteran — to see the youth of today having respect for ‘Old Glory.'”)
