LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven Fire Department volunteers made quick work of a structure fire that broke out shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday at 301 Commerce St. in the city. The volunteers hooked up water supply lines to hydrants on Bellefonte Avenue and  used their on-board supplies to make an interior attack on the flames at the two-and-a-half-story wood-frame structure.

The fire sent a plume of  gray smoke into the air, but the firefighters appeared to have the emergency response well in hand.

Some 30 volunteers responded to the blaze.

Commerce Street was cordoned off to traffic while the department dealt with the situation.
