Seat opening on Bellefonte borough council
Bellefonte Borough Council is anticipating to have an empty seat by the end of December.
Late Monday afternoon, Bellefonte Borough announced the West Ward vacancy on its social media. According to Borough Manager Ralph Stewart, Councilman Paul Decusati plans to resign sometime near the end of the year, but he has not given a formal date yet.
DeCusati will be leaving council due to work constraints.
Stewart said, “There may be a time later on where he has more time available and would choose to get back on council.”
DeCusati has served on council for 10 years and currently serves as president pro tempore, a position he has served in since January. He is chair of the borough’s building and property committee and he also serves on the borough’s water/sanitation and safety committees.
As of publication, DeCusati could not be reached for comment.
The West Ward covers Fifth Avenue south to the borough boundary, and from the western boundary, east to Ridge Street. Any resident of the West Ward is encouraged to send in a letter of interest for the council seat. Letters of interest/resumes can be sent to the Bellefonte Borough office at 236 W. Lamb St., Bellefonte, Pa. 16823, by the end of December.
