Thanksgiving edition among biggest of year

Curbside sales of Express, Sun-Gazette planned

Get ready for one of The Express community newspaper’s biggest and most valuable editions of the year this coming Thursday — Thanksgiving Day!

Filled with holiday sales inserts and special Thanksgiving greetings, you’ll want to sit back and read this special edition amid your special holiday celebrations and traditions.

The holiday edition newspaper, which will cost $1 at stores and in vending machines, will include advertising from local and regional businesses and individuals — just in time for Christmas shopping and, of course, Black Friday (Nov.  25) and Small Business Saturday (Nov. 26.)

See what expanded or earlier store hours area retailers will have for Thanksgiving, Black Friday and beyond.

Watch for sales fliers this Tuesday for Walker’s Hardware; and on Wednesday from Save A Lot, Tractor Supply, Beiter’s, Kmart, Papa Johns and also the P&G Brandsaver insert full of money saving coupons.

For the first time in … well, a long time, The Express’ Thanksgiving Day edition will be sold from 5 to 8 p.m. this Wednesday in front of the office at 9 W. Main St. in downtown Lock Haven to give customers advance information about holiday sales coming Thursday, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday!

Our Thanksgiving Day edition will have limited sales fliers inserted from Kmart, Lowe’s, Kohl’s, CVS, Sears, Family Dollar, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Best Buy, Walmart, A.C. Moore, Dell, Dollar General and Weis Markets.

The retail price of The Express’ Thanksgiving Day editon is $1.

We’ll also be selling Thanksgiving Day editions of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, our sister newspaper!

It is the Sun-Gazette’s biggest edition of the year, sold at a retail price of just $1.75.

Just drive up and we’ll bring a paper to your car.

Yes, there are more sales fliers than ever before!

Meanwhile, next Saturday, look for limited sales fliers from CVS, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Best Buy, Dell, and Dollar General.

And keep in mind, up to Christmas, you’ll find weekly money-saving inserts from a number of retailers.

Inside the Thanksgiving Day newspaper, look for advertising from many local businesses who ask that you “Shop Local” as much as you can for the holiday season.

Again this year, The Express’s Thanksgiving Day edition will feature articles and photos by students in Lock Haven University Assistant Professor Dana Washington’s Writing Skills class. The students write about their holiday traditions and other topics. Some students have submitted photos.

For those who don’t have The Express community newspaper delivered to the privacy and comfort of their home or place of business, keep in mind the retail price in stores and in vending machines will be $1 for the Thanksgiving Day edition.

Meanwhile, The Express office will be closed for the Thanksgiving Day holiday on Thursday, reopening at 8 a.m. Friday. News staff will be available to funeral directors for obituaries on Thursday, Nov. 24, but only from 4:30 to 6 p.m. by phone at 570-748-6791 (Ext. 139).
