LH Hospital accepting applications for nursing scholarships
LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven Hospital is accepting applications for the 2017 Lee and Bessie Graham Scholarship of Nurses. The late Bessie Graham established the scholarship trust in 1979 to assist graduates of Clinton County high schools who are interested in pursuing a career in nursing.
To be considered for the scholarship an applicant must:
r Be a Clinton County high school senior accepted in a nursing school program or a current nursing school student who graduated from a high school in Clinton County.
r Have completed an official scholarship application, provide proof of acceptance or enrollment in nursing school program, provide school transcripts and completed individual or parents’ current year income tax forms and references.
r Complete a short essay describing why they are seeking a career in nursing.
“Much of our day-to-day focus is on the care our nurses provide to our patients. The Graham Scholarship is a great opportunity for us to help develop the next generation of nurses,” said Darla Hardy, chief nursing officer, Lock Haven Hospital. “The amazing generosity of the Graham family allows us to assist local students who are pursuing an education with an eye toward a career in nursing.”
The 2016 Graham Scholarship winners included Rachael Williams of Lock Haven, Chelsea Boone of Lock Haven, Haley Francis of North Bend, Alyssa Panella of Lock Haven, Sadie Breon of Lock Haven, Chelsea Miller of Mill Hall, Sierra McCombs of Blanchard, Kari Coleman of Lock Haven, Morgan Askins of Howard and Kimberly Killinger of Beech Creek.
To receive full consideration for the scholarship, complete applications must be submitted to the Lock Haven Hospital Nursing Department no later than close of business, April 30, 2017.
