Soup sale

Great Island Presbyterian Church is holding its annual spring soup sale April 14 and 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Soups will be ham and bean, vegetable, and chicken corn, and they will be sold in quart containers. Advanced orders can be placed by calling 570-748-2810.

Willis Lecture

The inaugural Willis Distinguished Lecture Series in Health Professions will address the topic of “The Role of Physician Assistants in Primary Eye Care.” The presentation will take place Monday, April 17, at 5 p.m. in the Willis Health Professions Center, Room 105. The lecture is open to the public.

Spaghetti dinner

Howard Cub Scout Pack 353 will hold a spaghetti dinner on Friday, April 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Howard United Methodist Church. A children’s discount is available.

Host families needed

The local volunteers for the Fresh Air Fund are looking for new families to host a child for a week this summer. The Fresh Air Fund is a nonprofit agency that provides free summer vacations to children ages 7 to 18. These children come from inner New York City, and through the Fresh Air Fund and host families in the area, they can enjoy different experiences here in our county.
