I-80 work begins Monday in Clinton County

LOCK HAVEN — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists that Clinton County bridge work along Interstate 80, eastbound and westbound, is expected to start on Monday, May 1.

Crews will be working at mile marker 175 between the Lamar/173 interchange and the Lock Haven/177 interchange. Repairs will extend the useful life of the bridges, keeping them in service for years to come.

Interstate 80 drivers will encounter long term lane restrictions in the work area, with the right/travel lanes closed and through traffic eastbound and westbound using the left/passing lanes. Beginning Monday, crews will start repairing the expansion dams on the bridges. The travel lane closure will remain in place until Memorial Day, and then removed for the holiday travel period.

Daylight work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pennsylvania State Police will be used to assist with traffic control, as needed. Motorists will also be advised of the work through message boards along the highway. Alerts will also be available through the Highway Advisory Radio system at 1640 on the AM dial. Drivers should be alert for the lane restrictions and stopped or slowed traffic in and around the work zones.

This is additional work to PennDOT’s, $17 million restoration project in this area. HRI, Inc. of State College has been the contractor for this two-year project.

Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, move through work zones with caution, and always buckle up.
