Wayne Landfill seeks

scholarship applicants

McELHATTAN — Each year the Wayne Township Landfill holds the John B. Hoy, Jr. Memorial Charity Golf Tournament, which benefits one or two Clinton County non-profit or charitable organizations. The golf tournament has donated over $131,000 to 31 local charities over the last 16 years.

The landfill is currently accepting Letters of Interest from Clinton County non-profit and charitable organizations, of which one or two will be chosen by the Clinton County Solid Waste Authority board of directors to be the benefactors of this year’s golf tournament scheduled for Friday, Sept. 29 at the Clinton Country Club. All interested parties should provide a letter detailing what the organization does and who it benefits. Please be specific.

Letters can be emailed to thresa@ waynetwpland fill.com or mailed to Thresa Lingenfelter at the landfill office, P.O. Box 209, McElhattan, Pa. 17748 or faxed to Thresa’s attention at 570-769-7366. The deadline is June 16, 2017.

Alzheimer’s Support

Group meets Tuesday

LOCK HAVEN — The Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Conference B of Susque-View with Kelsey Follmer, business development specialist for HCR Manor Care, as guest speaker. Kelsey has been with Manor Care for over four years and has served in the business office, as a social worker assistant, in scheduling, payroll, as a human resources assistant and as the Admissions Director in Williamsport North and South and Jersey Shore locations. In addition to her current role in marketing and community outreach, Kelsey is temporarily covering as the hospital liaison.

The Support Group is free and open to anyone caring for someone with memory loss and to those interested in learning more about these topics. The group meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in Conference Room B of Susque-View.

Cancer Support

Group meets Thursday

LOCK HAVEN – The Cancer Support Group will meet on Thursday in Conference Room B of Susque-View. “The Garden that Heals” is the topic for this meeting. Master Gardener Candy Gore will be the guest speaker.

Cancer survivors advise those going through a cancer diagnosis not to let cancer define them by continuing to do the things that provided pleasure and meaning prior to the diagnosis.

The Cancer Support Group is facilitated by Fran Decker, MSW, LSW and hosted by Susque-View. The program is free and open to anyone who has a diagnosis of cancer, both newly diagnosed and long-time survivors. Family members and friends are also welcome. The group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in Conference Room B of Susque-View. For more information about the support group, call Fran Decker at 570-748-4302.

Service plans reunion

LOCK HAVEN — The annual Community Nursing Service of Clinton County will hold its annual reunion on Thursday, April 20 at 6 p.m. at Furst Corner Restaurant in Beech Creek.
