‘Apple’ gets her first ride in a Super Cub

PHOTO PROVIDED

Apollonia Mumbauer, better known as Apple, got her first ride in a Super Cub recently, compliments of local pilot and aircraft enthusiast Clyde Smith, left. Apple, held by her mother Rose Mumbauer in this photo, is the granddaughter of Bob Larson, owner of Lock Haven Aircrafts Sales and Air Parts of Lock Haven. Smith has been restoring the Super Cub PA 18-105 for Larson and it’s now a true replica, Larson said. The plane was used as a World War II training plane, Larson said. Rose, who works at her father’s business, said she brought Apple to work with her every day until about two weeks ago. Now at 10 months old, Apple goes to day care with the other children. “This was her first ride in a small plane and she had a great time,” Rose said.
