Centre County thanks senior volunteers
The Centre County Commissioners recently adopted a proclamation recognizing the valuable contribution made by the more than 800 volunteers of RSVP. A plaque was presented with the words “Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, Lifetime Achievement Awards, Centre County Board of Commissioners.” With the plaque and proclamation are Maryanne Gilbert of RSVP; Commissioner Mark Higgins; Commissioner Steven Dershem; Brenda Reeve, project director of RSVP; Kenneth Pendleton, director of the Centre County Office of Aging; and Commissioner Michael Pipe. RSVP volunteers saved the equivalent of $1.5 million by giving more than 67,000 hours of service. The commissioners also proclaimed April 4 as National Service Recognition Day and encouraged all staff and citizens to thank those who serve.
