LOCK HAVEN — The Acorn School will soon open its doors for another year at the Great Island Presbyterian Church in Lock Haven with two new teachers.

The school, which serves children ages 3-5 in its preschool classroom, will hold an open house on Aug. 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for anyone wishing to learn more about the school or register their child.

Mrs. Crystal Hofford of Jersey Shore is a graduate of Coudersport Area High School and received her bachelor’s degree at Lycoming College. She completed a graduate program at Wilkes University with a focus on early literacy and was previously a first grade teacher in Jersey Shore Area School District. She is excited about working in a setting that focuses on the youngest learners and is looking forward to serving the community.

Crystal will be joined by Jessica Chevillot who has been actively involved with the Acorn School for the past two years. Jessica is a Central Mountain High School graduate with a certificate in child development. The school is very excited and looking forward to another great year playing, growing, exploring and learning. It is still enrolling new children for the start of the 2017-2018 school year.

Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Anyone wishing to register a child or learn more about the school please contact the school through its Facebook page, email acornschoollh or contact board chair Barbara Svederus at 570-502-1142.
